Cathlamet Public Library now has Mobile Hotspots that established patrons in good standing can check out to:

  • Allow patrons to complete tasks that require internet access such as completion of school assignments; looking for and applying for jobs, assistance, and housing; connecting with others via videoconferencing; accessing consumer health information or attending a telemedicine appointment; downloading e-books and e-audiobooks, and other generic uses of the internet.
  • Allow patrons to test cellular data availability before selecting a cellular broadband service.

Circulation rules. Hotspot borrowers must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age, with a Cathlamet Public Library account in good standing.
  • Checkout no more than one hotspot per household at a time. Three week checkout time and one renewal allowed if item is not on hold.
  • Abide by the library’s Internet Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Assume any and all liability for the cost, repair, or replacement in the event of loss due to theft, damage, negligence, misuse or failure to return.
  • Return the device and all accessories in the travel case provided. Hotspots may be returned to the library during open hours or placed in the library’s book drop.
  • Waiver form is required to be signed and on file.

Laptops are also available for patrons to check out.

These laptops were purchased with a grant from the Washington State library to provide patron access to the internet from a computer laptop with MS Office Suite, away from library facilities, and to help close the digital divide.

They laptops will allow patrons to complete tasks that require internet access such as completion of school assignments; looking for and applying for jobs, assistance, and housing; connecting with others via videoconferencing; accessing consumer health information or attending a telemedicine appointment; downloading e-books and e-audiobooks, and other generic uses of the internet. Patrons may then save computer files to their email address, a flash drive or other memory device.

A laptop borrower must be at least 18 years of age, with a Cathlamet Public Library account in good standing. They must agree to assume liability for the cost, repair, or replacement of the laptop if lost or damaged, and return the device and all accessories in the travel case provided either to the library or to town hall front desks during open hours. Waiver form is required to be signed and on file.

Check Out Washington makes a limited edition Discover Pass available through participating libraries. Cathlamet Public Library now has two Discover passes available for patrons to checkout and use for free admission to visit millions of acres of state recreation lands in Washington, including:
  • More than 100 developed state parks
  • More than 350 primitive recreation sites, including campgrounds and picnic areas
  • Nearly 700 water-access points 
  • Nearly 2,000 miles of designated water and land recreation trails
  • More than 80 natural areas
  • More than 30 wildlife areas
"The Check Out Washington Pass may be used for motor vehicle access to lands managed by: Washington State Parks, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife; any area that requires a Discover Pass.", says librarian, Carol Blix.
