Grand Opening Celebration

The Cathlamet Public Library Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, February 22nd, 2:00-4:00pm was well attended!  Not all of our new furniture and equipment is here yet, and we are working to get new materials processed and on the shelves, as well as items that have been in storage for over a year, but our doors are open our regular hours of Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-5pm and Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 1-4pm.

Come and see our new bright open look, and new books and services!

The Cathlamet Public Library was closed from December 5th, 2013 through February 21st, 2014 to set up in the remodeled building. While it took a weekend to move the library into smaller quarters in 2012,  two and a half months representing many many volunteer hours were needed move the library out of the temporary River Street quarters, to position and secure new shelving, place books into their new locations, process new materials, set up equipment, and get the building contractor's finishing touches for our grand reopening.

The Town’s investment in combination with the contributions of the following groups and individuals made this almost $450,000 project possible:

USDA-RD
Blanche Bradley Memorial Library Foundation
Janet Cimino
Department of Commerce
Wahkiakum County
Architects Without Borders, Portland Chapter
Association of Washington Cities
Local Electric
Utilize IT
Community Economic Revitalization Board
Home Depot/Gliddon Paint
Brusco Family

Thanks also to the efforts of the current and former mayor and town council members, to make sure the remodel was successfully completed.

Also greatly appreciated was the help of Washington State Library personnel  with the library's automated circulation system, library website, and new services like downloadable ebooks, smartphone app, and IT Academy.
